My general research interest is the structure function analysis of ion channels. Ion channels are proteins that sit in the membrane of all living cells and that permit the passive but selective flux of inorganic ions across biological membranes. Ion channels are involved in many physiological processes as for example nerve conduction, synaptic transmission, or epithelial salt transport.

My major focus is on CLC chloride channel and transporter proteins. Recent reviews that cover my favorite research topics can be found here.
